Ardeer Thistle 0 Kilwinning Rangers 6
Ardeer were well beaten by top of the table Kilwinning Rangers in Dougie McGuires first game back in charge of the club. Ardeer handed debuts to four players- Stewart Donohue in goal, David Strachan in defence, Dominic Booth in midfield and Dale Beattie in attack but the new faces didnt prevent an expected defeat.
Kris Mitchell opened the scoring with 12 minutes played with a long range effort that flew high into the Ardeer net. The away side continued to attack and scored a second shortly afterwards when Tommy Sloan nodded the ball home at the back post. Ardeer were struggling and the Buffs got a third goal a few minutes later with Mark Ferris scoring an acrobatic effort. Tommy Sloan scored his second and Buffs fourth goal before half-time from close range after being set up by Ben Lewis.
Ardeer made two substitutions at half time with Craig Fairbairn and Derek Lamb coming on for James Thomson and Mark McCann at the back. Ardeer went 5-0 down about 10 minutes into the half after Callum McGregor scored with a long range free-kick that the goalkeeper may have saved if he had moved for it. Mark Ferris rounded off the scoring for the away team later in the half.
Ardeers chances were extremely limited throughout. Derek Gemmells shot from distance wasnt far off hitting the target, and Greg Kean should have grabbed a consolation but blazed high and wide when it was easier to score. |
