Ardeer Thistle 0 Dalry Thistle 3
Ardeer were outclassed against a Dalry side that were much better than their league position would suggest. The home side started poorly and went 1-0 down within 8 minutes. A Dalry striker did well to hold off Mark Mckinnon and finished well past Davie Richardson. The lead was doubled if the 16th minute when some poor defending resulted in a low cross being converted from close range. Ardeer were struggling to get into the game and Dalry effectively ended the game as a contest when they scored again in the 36th minute. One of their players ran with the ball from the left, and despite having a team-mate free in the centre he elected to go for goal himself and fired a well-placed effort into the Ardeer goal.
In the second half, Dalry scored their 4th and 5th goals within the first 10 minutes and it looked like a "cricket scoreline" was becoming a real possibility. However, no further goals were scored. The Ardeer team did look more comfortable in the last half hour but they were already 5-0 down and never really looked like scoring. Graeme Pattersons weak effort after some good work through the centre was the best chance they had. Martin O'Keefe was sent off for two bookable offences with 10 minutes to go.
After scoring in 7 of the first 10 matches this season, the team has now failed to find the net in the last 5 consecutive games and four of those games were at home. Next weeks opponents Irvine Vics hit six goals past Muirkirk yesterday so it looks like Ardeer will do well to get anything at Victoria Park. |
