Ardeer continued their losing streak but the game was closer than the result suggests and it's possible that as many as three of the Saltcoats goal may have been offside.

Stefan Johnstone sent an early effort over the bar for Ardeer but Saltcoats were to take the lead on 15 minutes. The ball was eventually bundled in from a free-kick sent in at the left flank but the scorer was definitely in an offside position when the ball was played to him. Despite the protests of Ardeer players and management the goal was given by referee Niall Walker. However, there was nothing dubious about the second goal five minutes later when Saltcoats scored a headed goal from a corner kick. Ardeer came close to scoring later in the half when Brett McKenzie beat the advancing Saltcoats goalkeeper to a long ball but his effort went agonisingly wide. McKenzie was taken out by a late challenge from the Saltcoats keeper in the same incident but to Ardeer's surprise no action was taken against him.

Ardeer started brightly in the second half but couldnt find the net despite their abundance of chances. Toni Paton hit a rasping effort from long range that just missed the target, Brett McKenzies strike hit the post and Scott Reids shot went just wide after some good work between him and Lee Munro. It looked as if Ardeer's luck had deserted them and this was confirmed when Saltcoats added two more goals on the 68th and 77th minutes, although observers have suggested that both should possibly have been disallowed for offside.
