Ardeer Thistle 0 Irvine Vics 2

Ardeer looked much better than they did on Saturday but despite playing fairly well an Alan Baird double gave the away side a 2-0 victory.

The teams were quite evenly matched in the first half and each had a few chances to score. Toni Paton made a good run with the ball from the left flank but his shot flew past the goalmouth without testing the Vics goalkeeper. Scott Reid and Lee Munro both had efforts that went just wide of the goal during the half but Irvine held a one goal advantage at half-time thanks to Bairds close range rebound on 21 minutes.

The Vics controlled the start of the second half and gained several corner kicks early on. They hit the post from one but couldnt find the back of the net. They also missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0 when one of their strikers was put through one-on-one against Joe Murphy but failed to round the Ardeer keeper. With time running out, Scott McHarg's header hit the top of the bar for Ardeer but Irvine Vics sealed the win when Baird got a second from close range on the 84th minute.
